BANGKOK VOLTAGE, PLUG AND ADAPTERS

In Bangkok, Thailand, the standard voltage is 220 volts at a frequency of 50 Hz. The power plugs and sockets used in Bangkok are of Type A, Type B, and Type C.

  • Type A: This plug type has two flat parallel pins. It’s commonly used in North America, Central America, and parts of South America, as well as in Japan.
  • Type B: Similar to Type A but with an additional grounding pin. This plug type is also used in North America, Central America, and parts of South America.
  • Type C: This plug type has two round pins. It’s commonly used in Europe, South America, and Asia.

If your devices use a different type of plug, you will need a travel adapter to convert the plug type to one that is compatible with the sockets in Bangkok. Most modern hotels and accommodations in Bangkok will have universal sockets that can accommodate a variety of plug types, but it’s always a good idea to carry a travel adapter just in case.

When selecting a travel adapter, consider one that is versatile and compatible with multiple plug types to ensure it meets your needs during your stay in Bangkok. It’s also advisable to check the voltage requirements of your electronic devices to avoid damaging them when using them with the higher voltage in Bangkok.
